If you’re in the selling world you’ll probably know that quote quite well and whether you like him or loathe him, Jordan Belfort could teach us all a thing or two about selling,
For some, they think it’s too pushy and for others, he’s a genius,
and if you sign up to any sales webinar or conference, I can almost guarantee you’ll have a reference to him in there somewhere,
But if you haven’t seen the film, it’s the Wolf of Wall Street,
I have to say it’s one of my all time favourite films,
Not because of the absolute antics that happen at their work place but because there’s something to take from it,
Selling is an art and very few can master it fully,
Selling is something that so many people think they are really good at,
“Ye, if I had the leads coming in it wouldn’t be a problem”
“Ye, if I had the systems in place to follow up and got them on the phone I’d be flying”
but actually, your sales process happens way before the “Buy my stuff” conversation happens,
Your sales process starts when someone becomes aware of who you are and what you do,
Whether that’s through copy, an ad, a referral, a conversation, a post or a comment,
and that’s where a lot of businesses can struggle,
They have their mind set on that one and only sales call, nail that and we will be flying,
but what we need to look at is our WHOLE process,
Your audiences WHOLE journey from the minute they enter your world,
Ask yourself, are these people being wowed ?
Are they liking what they see?
Are they taking value from it ?
Are they warming up to you and your service ?
Are they seeing you EVERYWHERE due to your connections and referrals ?
If the answer is no, then you’re making the selling part very difficult for yourself,
Now, I’m not saying you need to go out and film a tv ad, record a radio feature and be published in your local paper but start making connections with people already in your circle,
Start conversations with old clients,
Start marketing to people online,
It makes getting people on the phone SO much easier because they feel they know you already,
Now, I know what you’re thinking, for a small team how is any of this possible,
But it is, instead of you chasing cold leads that clearly aren’t that bothered, it’s all about getting a simple system in place that allows your business to finally grow in a predictable and scalable way,
Not jumping from week to week wondering where the next sale is coming from,
Our next post is going to dive into the top 3 things you aren’t doing in your business which you should do to bring in CONSISTENT leads,
You don’t want to miss it.
